She has seven grandchildren ranging in age from seven months to thirteen years old.

Karla’s  hobbies include triathlons, dragon boating, distance cycling, half marathons, kayaking, bouldering, hiking, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Karla was introduced to Hope For The Warriors® at a Marine Corps Marathon in 2010. “Once I heard their mission, I knew I wanted to be involved. Being the Tampa Team Captain allows me to be more involved, invite people to join the running and Dragonboat teams, put together teams at local races, and exposing Hope For The Warriors® to the Tampa area. Team Hope for the Warriors® Tampa has gained lots of exposure and excitement since April when we had a Dragonboat Team compete in races.  Since that time I have had numerous requests for information.  We are taking a team to the Run for the Fallen in September and the Marine Corp Half Marathon in Jacksonville in October.  We are also participating in two Dragonboat races coming up; September 28, 2013 in St. Petersburg and November 16, 2013 in Lake Hernando.”

Hope For The Warriors® Tampa meets on Thursday evening at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in South Tampa at 6:30p for a group three mile run/walk.  Afterwards Team members meet back at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and enjoy hanging out with the greatest Team around. Beef ‘O’ Brady’s generously offers drink specials to our Team and we often have local running stores join us for seminars, raffles and giveaways.
